Acting Class

Hey everybody, this is Evan, Jon gave me privileges here on the Jolly Roger to do some commentary on some of his recent photos. The other night Jon and Kathy, being the one two acting punch that they are held an acting class. Jon caught some of the reactions to prompts by the students and I think it is evident we are well on our way, there is definitely some Oscar buzz.

The night started out with basic emotions, here Kyle does a great job of conveying longing, fear, and tension. He got 3 out of the 4 emotions, the 4th being disrespect for authority, it was a worthy effort, however we quickly moved to more difficult prompts.

Here Dan displays his prompt, how big is a taun taun. At first we almost denied the performance because we all know ton ton's are far larger than that but Kathy pointed out that while the height and length of a taun taun exceeded his set proportions the width of the back was spot on as a taun taun's back is about 3.5 feet across in adult males. Once again Kathy's knowledge of Star Wars creatures saved the day.

Not an acting prompt but more of a cautionary tale, here Kathy and Heather remind us to keep our tetanus shots up to date or we may end up like them. Lock jaw does not discriminate.

Micah's prompt had 3 parts. The first he had to spread awareness on the lock jaw epidemic. Second he had to pretend like he was pleasantly surprised by an old friend. The third part was a discrete product placement for Del Taco. He nailed all three, bravo Micah.

Mine was called the sexy amnesiac. Poor sap even forgot what his hand was, at least he's sexy eh ladies.

The Relaxed Intensely Staring Thinker, or TRIST as it is commonly known in the acting world, this is a staple for any true actor.

Jon exhibits a man who should not be trusted at any cost.

Ian was supposed to exhibit how the eyes are the windows for the soul. I think it is evident Ian's soul is saying earlobe plugs are cool.

A sexy version of the foot of Jesus. Jesus had very well shaped ankles and a prominent sock tan.

Kyle is already starting too look like a better actor, here he pretends my jokes are funny, truly a master of his craft.

Like all good things acting night had to come to an end. I took too many takes on the Evan takes a shot of scotch prompt and the ground just kept moving making it ever so hard to walk. I woke up there the next morning feeling like a true member of the Hollywood elite.

Peace Out!

chillax, I ain't going anywhere. my parents are however and here are some pics from one of their last nights with some friends.

and yes, there are actually two whole pictures of me (one thanks to dan)

im sure half of these will end up on other sites as I am turning into the stock photo site for everyone's blog...s'all good

Who needs a high school diploma anymore?

17-year old girl makes up to $70,000 a month with MySpace site

At 17 going on 37 (at least), Ashley is very much an Internet professional. In the less than two years since Whateverlife took off, she has dropped out of high school, bought a house, helped launch artists such as Lily Allen, and rejected offers to buy her young company. Although Ashley was flattered to be offered $1.5 million and a car of her choice–as long as the price tag wasn’t more than $100,000–she responded, in effect, Whatever. :) “I don’t even have my license yet,” she says.

Ashley is evidence of the meritocracy on the Internet that allows even companies run by neophyte entrepreneurs to compete, regardless of funding, location, size, or experience–and she’s a reminder that ingenuity is ageless. She has taken in more than $1 million, thanks to a now-familiar Web-friendly business model. Her MySpace page layouts are available for the bargain price of…nothing. They’re free for the taking. Her only significant source of revenue so far is advertising."

I have no money but...

...that doesn't mean I can't get excited:

"Canon has upped the ante again with the EOS 40D ($1300; Sept.). This mid-range competitor to Nikon's D80 packs an enhanced 10.1-megapixel CMOS sensor, a DIGIC III image processor, and a 3-inch LCD screen in a new magnesium alloy body. Other features include the ability to shoot 6.5 frames-per-second, a top shutter speed of 1/8000 of a second, and a redesigned nine-point Autofocus sensor."

The Best Channel

So, am I like getting really old or is Discovery Channel one of the best channels on cable right now? Right now, I would rather watch reruns of Man vs Wild and Dirty Jobs than see if there is anything else on any other stations.

Then there's others like Mythbusters & Deadliest Catch which keep entertained for a while too. I also relax to Planet Earth episodes and the other random animal documentaries that they throw on perdiodically.

And then, one of my all time favorites...How It's Made, without which I would not know how a football is created or how they recycle plastic at the recycling factories.

So am I the only one confessing their clandestine love for the channel of discovery or are there others out there? I know my man Dan is with me on lovin' Bear Grylls.

Packaging of the Past

Pretty cool gallery on flickr right now of this stuff, check it out and get all nostalgic about the days when "Quik" came in a tine can and "Log Cabin" syrup was in a glass bottle.

Where would we be without Sweden?

I'm glad you asked! Well, we wouldn't have "Sunlight in a Cable", that's for sure.

Thank you Sweden :)
